NEW HIRES
Mark Gerling was hired as executive vice president of sales at The Flesh Company, St. Louis. Gerling has more than 14 years’ experience in senior management, market development, strategic alliances and technology development. In his new role, Gerling oversees the company’s sales and marketing, and is developing a regional sales strategy.

Josh Roach was hired at Printable Technologies Inc., Solana Beach, Calif., for the newly created position of executive vice president of technology. Roach brings experience with large-scale software development and formerly worked at Intuit, HNC Software, Accelrys, A-Life Medical and co-founded Convisia, a hosted enterprise software company.

Guy Van Puyvelde was appointed to senior vice president of sales and marketing at Esko, the Belgian packaging solutions firm. In this newly created position, Van Puyvelde leads Esko’s four regional sales and service divisions and the global sales and corporate marketing departments. He has 20 years’ experience in international sales, marketing and business management. In his last position, Van Puyvelde served as CEO and managing director of GPG, a Belgian paper and supplies distributor.

Misty Rembert was appointed account manager at Semper International’s Atlanta office (formerly PrintStaff). In her new position, she will identify new companies for temp workers in production as well as administrative, CRM and other business work. Most recently, Rembert was a business development representative at Preferred Personnel Solutions Inc. She also worked at firstPRO, Proven Performance Inc. and Robert Half International.

Steve Wohlert was hired as senior vice president of sales for advertising inserts at Vertis Communications, Baltimore. Wohlert has more than 15 years’ experience in sales and marketing, and most recently worked at ADVO, as well as ConAgra Foods, International Home Foods and American Home Food Products.

Del Chiaro

Tucker

Michael Del Chiaro was appointed president of Ward/Kraft, Fort Scott, Kan., and Kraft family-owned companies. Del Chiaro formerly served as senior vice president for the company. Mark Tucker, who was formerly VP and general manager of Ward/Kraft’s Long Run Labels division, was promoted to senior vice president of manufacturing. In his new position, Tucker is responsible for the company’s five manufacturing divisions.

Andy Fiore was promoted to regional sales manager, Northeast/ mid-Atlantic region, at Standard Finishing Systems, Andover, Mass. Fiore was previously a field sales manager at Standard Finishing Systems, where he has worked since 1996. Paul Steinke, who has worked at Standard Finishing for more than 19 years, was promoted to regional sales manager of the central/southeast region. His background is in technical services. Nick Stipanovich, who joined Standard Finishing in 2005, was promoted to regional sales manager of the Western region. Stipanovich has more than 35 years of bindery and digital print finishing experience.

Ben Rock was appointed director of global accounts, a new position, at Domino Printing Sciences plc, Cambridge, UK. Rock will lead a team of global account managers for the ink jet and laser manufacturer. He has been employed at Domino for 16 years, and has held positions in R&D, commercial support, group marketing and sales, and sales management. He was most recently in Japan as Domino’s country manager responsible for business development.

Richard Schielke was hired as a business development manager at Mohawk Fine Papers, Cohoes, N.Y. Schielke assists Mohawk’s commercial printer partners with business growth and strategies. He has worked in sales and marketing of fine papers for more than 20 years, at xpedx and Unisource. In his new position, Schielke continues to serve on the Printing News Graphic Arts Advisory Board.

Steve Pritchard was hired at Fujifilm in Valhalla, N.Y., as a national account manager. Most recently, Pritchard was in global account sales at Kodak’s graphic imaging systems division and at Kodak’s polychrome graphics.

IN MEMORIAM
Marland “Pete” Peterson died on January 30 in his home in Elm Grove, Wis., after a short battle with cancer. He spent more than 40 years in the envelope business, including his last position as corporate manufacturing manager at Western States Envelope & Label in Butler, Wis., after being discharged from the Army. He was well-respected in his field both locally and nationally.

Peterson helped develop Clemson University’s printing program, served on the printing and publishing advisory committee at WCTC, was involved with the Envelope Manufacturers Association and was active in the International Association of Printing House Craftsmen. He was recognized by that organization with their highest award, International Governor of the year, among many other accolades. After retiring in 2005, Peterson enjoyed golfing, working part-time for the village of Elm Grove, and volunteering at a Headstart program.

Peterson is survived by his wife Joanie, daughters Shelly Wert, Suanne Whittington and Bobbi Ferenchak, as well as his brother Byron and sisters Phyllis Musgrove, Norma Barthel and Patricia Ferguson. A funeral was held in Oconomowoc, Wis. in February, and a memorial service will take place in Portland, Ore. later in the year.
