Eastman Kodak, Rochester, N. Y., added photo authoring software and an image enhancement system to its NEXPRESS Solutions. The system extracts images from print-ready pdf files using preconfigured settings, and corrects for scene balance, tone scale, noise, smoothing, jpeg deblocking, color profiling and red eye. The photo authoring software allows customers to upload orders online for products such as calendars, photo books and cards.

OneVision, Jersey City, N.J., introduced a new software plug-in designed to save color ink, called PlugINKSAVEin. This module uses 4-D color management techniques to reduce the amount of CMY ink and maximize the amount of black ink used. Additionally, set-up times can be reduced, and fan out and web breaks can be avoided.

Stora Enso, Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., added a matte finish to its Blazer Digital product line in 80 and 100 lb. text and cover papers. The papers come in 20.5- by 14.3-inch and 18- by 12-inch sizes, for laser and digital offset printers. The paper is vapor-barrier wrapped.

CGS Publishing Technologies, Minneapolis, was awarded SWOP and GRACoL certifications for its ORIS PearlPROOF media. They ensure that the media render color accurately so that hard copy matches an onscreen proof, and that color management solutions meet commercial printing specifications. The certifications validate that systems with low delta E numbers will visually match a press run more consistently than those run without.

Pitney Bowes, Stamford, Conn., introduced its Sure-Feed AT3 Product Attaching System. The machine has a synchronized servo card feeder and features changeover times of less than 15 minutes. Typical applications for the machine include attaching phone cards, real estate cards, business cards, credit cards, insurance cards, gift cards, magnets and certified mail. It can also be integrated with the Flexible Bindery Interface or plow folding.
