Artwork Systems Group N.V., a Belgian pre-press software development firm, released a software solution for gamut printing called Equinox. This new program brings together a unique color-conversion process, enabling 5, 6 or 7 printing inks for expanded gamut printing. Combining technical ICC color profiles and an "editorial" control option, users can choose how images will be separated and colors converted. For example, orange can be constrained from flesh tones but retained in a pumpkin in the same image.

ProDocumentSolutions, Paso Robles, Calif., has released CopySafe+, a technology that prevents photocopies of sensitive documents from being legible. The solution, which differs from "copy-evident" technologies, prevents the information from being read at all. The copysafe paper has reflective areas, over which sensitive copy is printed by laser printers. When imaged on a photocopier, the copier's light reflects off of the metallic area and reproduces a black box. The solution can be applied to custom documents in specific areas.
