Xerox Corporation, Rochester, N.Y., introduced a coated paper that’s 25 percent lighter than the standard grade. This 60 lb. text is intended to be the lightest weight for high-volume digital color printing, used for magazine pages, marketing brochures, catalogs and children’s books. The paper is offered in 11 x 17-inch and 12 x 18-inch sizes.

Canon USA, Lake Success, N.Y., introduced two new printers: the imageCLASS MF4150, a multifunction laser printer for small and home offices, and the PC170, for the traveling business professional. The imageCLASS provides duplex output when printing, receiving faxes and copying for letter-sized paper, and can also copy single-sided pages to double-sided output. The PC170, which weighs less than 19 pounds, folds into a briefcase shape and features Canon’s RAPID fusing system.

MetaCommunications, Iowa City, Iowa, released Approval Manager 1.0, a proof approval software. The product increases workflow efficiency in marketing, creative and production environments. It has a web-based interface for both Macs and PCs.

International Paper, Memphis, Tenn., has updated its Digital Imaging Papers Source Guide. The guide details the company’s digital papers—Accent, Opaque, Carolina, Hammermill, Springhill and Williamsburg—for reference and comparison.

Frontline Systems, a Swedish software developer, and Durst, an Italian photo printing systems provider, released ThetaWeb, an online interface for ordering photos. In contrast to traditional photo-ordering websites, this offering is operated by the in-house photolab staff and can be customized and controlled by lab personnel. Productolith coated paper sheets from Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.-based Stora Enso have been FSC-certified, indicating that the product has been traced to its forest of origin through a chain-of-custody process by the National Forest Stewardship Council. The Productolith line also contains a minimum of 10 percent post-consumer recycled fiber.

Buhrs, a German-based supplier introduced a compact co-mailer system. This machine, which features poly wrapping capabilities, commingles various titles for USPS distribution, maximizing bundle counts and providing increased postal savings. The new machine has a start section, two 60-inch feeder bases, one RF5 feeder with a nose extension and one SF5 feeder with a single loader.

The Bradshaw Group, Richardson, Texas, has renewed an Authorized Parts Reseller contract with Hewlett Packard. Bradshaw operates as a resource for large volume laser print equipment, parts and supplies. It is one of the largest suppliers of HP parts in the country.
