PeoMeissner01.tif
Art Meissner, CEO of the Gail Company, Milwaukee, retired after selling the distributorship he founded 52 years ago. Meissner began his career in 1950 as a sales representative for manufacturer Egry Register, Dayton, Ohio. He left in 1953 to form the Gail Company. In 1963, the company changed its name to Gail Business Forms to reflect its core business. A drastically changing industry caused Meissner to readopt the company’s original name in 2003. Meissner was active in the National Business Forms Association (now DMIA), joining its board of directors in 1967 and serving as president from 1973-74. During his presidency, Meissner focused on energy issues and paper shortages. He appeared before the Federal Trade Commission to testify against direct-selling manufacturer UARCO’s tie-in sales practices. Meissner served as a DMIA regional coordinator from 1986-1988. Outside the industry, Meissner has served as president of the Wisconsin Humane Society, president of his condominium association and is active in various religious organizations.
