HIRES
Sarah
Macdonald was named vice president
and general manager of Wis.-based
Appleton’s international
division. She explores international
partnerships, strategic alliances,
and supply agreement options for
the paper supplier. Macdonald
previously served as executive
vice president of sales and marketing
at U.S. Can Corporation, Lombard,
Ill., where she was responsible
for the sales and marketing activities
of the company’s $600 million
aerosol, paint and general line
businesses in the United States
and Europe. Kent Willetts was
named vice president of marketing
and strategy. He develops the
company’s strategic planning
process and joint venture, affiliation,
licensing and partnership opportunities.
He also has executive responsibility
for Appleton’s technical
development efforts. Willetts
most recently served as vice president
of global brand equity for family
care products at Kimberly-Clark
Corporation.
Bob
Irvin joined Roanoke, Va.-based
InfoSeal’s customer service
staff. Irvin, who has more than
30 years of experience in the
forms and direct mail industries,
assists distributors with InfoSeal
and New Jersey Business Forms
products and equipment. He previously
held positions with Transkrit,
General Business Forms (GBF) and
Freedom Graphics.
The
Jerome Group announced that Kay
Baker will head its office
in Minneapolis. Baker previously
served as director of production
services at The Lacek Group, a
division of OgilvyOne. Baker also
has worked for Carlson Companies,
Gage Marketing and Young America
Corp., developing a variety of
direct, loyalty and promotional
marketing solutions.
Peter
Carey was named president
and CEO of Knoxville, Tenn.-based
American Screen Art, a manufacturer
of fleet, retail, OEM and POP
graphics. He succeeds Maurice
Richardson, who remains active
in the company as chairman of
the board of directors.
Timothy
Kirkland was named eastern
region sales manager at Brandtjen
& Kluge Inc. His territory
includes Maine, Vt., N.Y., N.H.,
Mass., Pa., Conn., N.J., Md.,
Va., W.V., N.C., S.C., Ga., Fla.,
the Caribbean Islands, Ontario,
Quebec and eastern provinces in
Canada. Kirkland previously worked
for Printcafe, Esko-Graphics and
Heidelberg.
Chris
Lynn
was named vice president of sales
and marketing at Xaar Americas,
a San Antonio-based supplier of
industrial ink jet printing technology.
He previously held senior management
positions at Crosfield Electronics,
Hagemeyer Cosa Liebermann and
MediaBin Inc. Edsel Lonza was
named sales manager for Latin
America. Lonza, who is based in
Sao Paulo, Brazil, previously
worked at Alphagraphics Inc. where
he helped establish the franchise
printer as a market leader in
Brazil.
Richard
Carroll was named Chicago
region systems engineer at San
Francisco-based IO Integration
(IOI), a systems integrator focused
on building workflow efficiencies
for advertising agencies, commercial
printers, prepress providers and
retail publishers. Carroll installs
and supports prepress systems
for ad agencies, design firms,
prepress shops and printers in
the Chicago area. He previously
worked for Capps Digital, where
he managed the company’s
application R&D department.
RECOGNITION
Roger
Wehrli, vice president at
manufacturer FormStore® Incorporated,
Fenton, Mo., was named one of
25 semifinalists for induction
to the 2006 Pro Football Hall
of Fame. Wehrli played for the
St. Louis Cardinals from 1969-1982.
He was inducted into the College
Football Hall of Fame in 2004.
RETIREMENT
Art
Meissner, CEO of the Gail
Company, Milwaukee, retired after
selling the distributorship he
founded 52 years ago. Meissner
began his career in 1950 as a
sales representative for manufacturer
Egry Register, Dayton, Ohio. He
left in 1953 to form the Gail
Company. In 1963, the company
changed its name to Gail Business
Forms to reflect its core business.
A drastically changing industry
caused Meissner to readopt the
company’s original name
in 2003. Meissner was active in
the National Business Forms Association
(now DMIA), joining its board
of directors in 1967 and serving
as president from 1973-74. During
his presidency, Meissner focused
on energy issues and paper shortages.
He appeared before the Federal
Trade Commission to testify against
direct-selling manufacturer UARCO’s
tie-in sales practices. Meissner
served as a DMIA regional coordinator
from 1986-1988. Outside the industry,
Meissner has served as president
of the Wisconsin Humane Society,
president of his condominium association
and is active in various religious
organizations.
