HIRES
Carl
Madinya was named marketing
specialist at Tabbies, a division
of Xertrex International Inc.,
Itasca, Ill. He manages the marketing
efforts of the manufacturer’s
domestic product lines, including
design, creation and distribution
of new and existing promotional
materials. Madinya previously
worked in marketing and customer
relations management positions
at Positive Marketing Associates,
a manufacturer of filing supplies.
Brandyn
Zanow was named marketing
manager at Repacorp Label Products,
a Tipp City, Ohio-based manufacturer.
Zanow oversees the marketing and
development of SKY-SCAPES®
fluorescent light diffusers. He
recently graduated from the University
of Kentucky.
Clint
Beutelschies was named sales
and marketing manager at Houston-based
Valeron Strength Films’
Performance Print Media Group.
He oversees the manufacturer’s
key accounts through sales and
promotional activities in North
America, South America and Central
America. Beutelschies most recently
served as regional sales manager
at manufacturer MeadWestvaco’s
Packaging Resource Group.
Robert
Berg was named general manager
of sheetfed operations for supplier
MAN Roland’s Eastern region.
Berg spent 25 years working for
the Buhrmann Group in Spain, Singapore,
Greece, the United States and
Mexico, where he ran Heidelberg’s
distribution channel. At MAN Roland,
he succeeds Todd Andrews, who
was promoted to executive vice
president and general counsel.
Andrews returns to MAN Roland’s
headquarters in Westmont, Ill.,
to take charge of legal, quality
assurance and human resources.
David Doucette was named district
sales manager. Doucette most recently
worked in sales for plate-producer
Printing Developments Inc. He
also has represented Eastman Kodak
and Fuji Photo Film U.S.A. in
key sales positions. In his new
role, Doucette brings advanced
sheetfed technology and new business
ideas to printers throughout Southern
California and Las Vegas.
Bruce
Kessler was named Western
sales manager at Brandtjen &
Kluge Inc. He’s responsible
for product sales in Alabama,
Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado,
Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada,
New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, Utah,
Washington, Wyoming, British Columbia
and Alberta. Kessler, who has
24 years of experience in the
graphic arts industry, previously
served as director of sales, West,
for Fuji’s Graphic Systems
Division.
PROMOTIONS
Scott
Steiner was named media sales
maanger at manufacturer Bar Code
Specialties, Garden Grove, Calif.
Steiner, who has 28 years’
experience in the labels industry,
most recently served as sales
representative. Fred Braun and
Teresa Saldutti joined the media
sales team. Braun most recently
served as a distributor of corrugated
boxes and related items. Saldutti
most recently served as inside
sales manager and consumable specialist
at Irvine, Calif.-based supplier
Citizen America.
George
W. “Bill” Gates
was named general manager and
vice president of sales at Eastman
Kodak Company’s document
imaging business. He manages Kodak’s
indirect sales channel in the
United States and Canada to sell
document scanners and software.
Gates most recently served as
general manager, document imaging,
for the Latin American region.
Kevin Joyce was named managing
director of sales and operations
for the Graphic Communications
Group’s (GCG) United States
and Canada regions. He previously
served as vice president of sales
for Kodak Polychrome Graphics.
Israel Sandler, who currently
serves as managing director of
Creo’s Europe, Africa and
Middle East regions (EMEA), was
named managing director of sales
and operations for the GCG EMEA.
His appointment is effective with
Kodak’s recently approved
acquisition of Creo. Dr. Kiyoo
Shimada was named managing director
of sales and operations for GCG
Japan. He previously served as
president of KPG Japan. Gustavo
Oviedo was named managing director
of sales and operations for the
GCG Latin America region. He previously
served as vice president and general
manager for KPG Latin America.
The managing directors report
to Andrew Copley, managing director
and vice president of global sales
and operations, GCG. They’re
responsible for leading integration
activities across the regions,
in cooperation with the leadership
teams of GCG’s operating
units, Graphic Solutions &
Services and Transaction &
Industrial Solutions.

Larry
A. Zavadil, founder and CEO
of Glenwood, Minn.-based American
Solutions for Business, received
the 2005 Ellis Island Medal of
Honor from the National Ethnic
Coalition of Organizations (NECO).
Established in 1986 by NECO, the
Ellis Island Medal of Honor pays
tribute to ancestry groups that
comprise American’s culture.
Zavadil was nominated for exemplifying
a life dedicated to hard work,
self-improvement and community
service. American Solutions for
Business distributes printing,
promotions and enterprise-wide
document management solutions.
It employs more than 500 sales
associates and nearly 280 staff
employees, and reported fiscal
2004 sales of more than $230 million.
The
Allen Company, a manufacturer
in Blanchester, Ohio, recently
honored the following employees
for their years of service: Curt
Bandow and Sandra Moore (30 years);
and Steve Bell (25 years). The
following employees also were
honored for their perfect attendance
records in 2003: Junior Dawson,
Sharon Figart, Barbara Gregory,
Bonnie Hammons and Debra Waldron.
OBITUARY
Larry
Paul Chain died in April at
the age of 63. Chain was an account
executive for Sterling Business
Forms Inc. He joined the company
13 years ago as manager of its
Sacramento, Calif., plant. Prior
to working for Sterling Business
Forms, Chain held positions at
Data Graphics (now Printegra)
and Block Graphics. He’s
survived by his fiance, Patty
Bachan-Tuss, and children Scott
Allen Chain, Lisa Gaye Myer, Troy
Douglas Chain and Aaron Todd Allen.
He also is survived by his sisters,
Vernette Kay Andrews and Jere
Ann Griffiths, and four grandchildren.
