A
Salute to Print Excellence
This
year, Print Solutions sponsored
the first-ever Print
Excellence And Knowledge (PEAK)
Awards program. PEAK awards
represent preeminence in the design
and production of printed products
that add value by solving client
problems or improving a client’s
business. We’re proud to
present the 2005 winners, beginning
on p. 42.
The
inaugural competition drew more
than 200 entries from North America
and Europe. Winners in the 29
categories reflect virtually the
entire spectrum of printing, from
labels, direct mail and packaging
to variable data digital printing
and web-based print systems. There
are several categories of traditional
commercial printing, as well as
special categories such as “Time
Saver” and “Money
Maker.” A panel of industry
experts judged the contest: John
Leininger, professor in the Department
of Graphic Communications at Clemson
University; Joe Schwan, who held
top executive positions at Wallace
Computer Services and Standard
Register until his retirement
in 2001; and Ivars Sarkans, a
printing industry consultant and
a member of the Board of Directors
of the Print Education and Research
Foundation.
Grand
Award winners will receive a special
plaque and will be featured at
the Print
Solutions Conference & Expo,
Oct. 18-20 in Orlando, Fla. We
hope you and your employees can
join the thousands of print professionals
who attend this annual, national
event. For winners, it’s
a great opportunity to share ideas
and soak up some publicity and
admiration for great work. Companies
that didn’t win—or
enter—can take pride in
the industry’s accomplishments
and service to end users.
If
you didn’t participate in
the PEAK contest this year, it’s
not too early to start thinking
about next year. We know our readers
develop successful, award-worthy
projects daily. If you have one
of them, get the recognition it
deserves by submitting it.
